Cogent Strategies is pleased to welcome its new class of fellows for Summer 2022! These Cogent fellows bring an array of early career experiences and perspectives, and are an integral part of the work we do with our clients. We’re excited to have them on board!
Meet them below:
Jack Castanoli
Jack Castanoli is a junior at The George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs pursuing a degree in Political Communication. He brings prior internship experience as a district office intern for Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL) and leadership in a student-run television station at GW. Jack is looking to leverage his understanding of the intersection of policy and media in his work at Cogent.
Elizabeth Gleason
Elizabeth Gleason is a graduate student at the Boston University College of Communication, where she is pursuing her master’s degree in Media Science. She received her undergraduate degree in History and Political Science from Providence College. She comes to Cogent with experience as an intern for public relations firms including Rasky Partners and Grayling, as well as the Massachusetts Governor’s Council. She hopes to combine her interests in policy and communications as she embarks on her career.
Renne Pierson
Renee Pierson is a rising senior at the University of Notre Dame pursuing a double major in Political Science and Psychology. She brings diverse experiences with policy work to Cogent having interned with advocacy group The Borgen Project, co-authored a policy recommendation for the State Department with the Better Evidence Project and studied immigration policy in Europe up close during her semester abroad in Greece. Renee hopes to expand on her knowledge of a wide range of policy issues through her work at Cogent this summer.
Mario Volpe
Mario Volpe is a rising senior at the University of Connecticut pursuing a double major in Political Science and Urban and Community Studies. Mario brings legislative experience having worked in the Office of U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT) and U.S Representative Jim Himes (D-CT). Mario is looking to pursue his passion of law and policy, with the goal of one day serving as an elected official.
