NAVIGATING THE NATION’S CAPITAL FOR A TOP METRO AREA

How We Did It

One of the nation’s top metro areas entrusted Cogent to serve as their partner in Washington on a myriad of federal affairs issues. For years, our team has served as the local government’s eyes and ears inside the Beltway on issues including transportation, infrastructure, emergency management, affordable housing and homelessness, innovation and emerging technologies and sustainability. Throughout our engagement, Cogent has worked closely with officials to deliver a total of over $12 million in terror-prevention planning funding assistance and a $20 million transportation grant to the metro area while also currently navigating the funding complexities allowed under the historic Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). We also provided high-level support to recover critical documentation from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) related to tens of millions in disaster recovery reimbursement.

Cogent continues to highlight the metro area’s priorities to the relevant congressional delegation and administration officials; monitor political and policy developments; secure, facilitate and participate in congressional meetings during visits to the nation’s capital; and provide detailed and tailored digital analysis of the congressional conversation around the key policy areas of utmost concern.
