ESTABLISHING A C-SUITE NETWORKING GROUP AS A WASHINGTON THOUGHT LEADER
How We Did It
The Cogent team utilized a combination of government relations and public relations tactics to position a private company focused on C-suite networking but with no Washington profile as a thought leader in the cybersecurity space. We used our client’s report about how corporate boards should treat cyber risk to start the conversation with key policymakers and then introduced the company as an authority on the cybersecurity views of corporate leaders. We secured high-level meetings with policymakers and staff on both sides of the aisle, including those on the Congressional Cybersecurity Caucus and on committees of jurisdiction over cyber issues. Our PR team bolstered our GR efforts by guiding our client through the process of placing an op-ed with Morning Consult and garnering press coverage in legal and trade media. We also opened up new avenues for third-party collaboration with like-minded groups. Our client was thrilled with the results of our work – calling Cogent “very effective” and “highly valuable.”
