RAISING THE PROFILE OF A NATIONAL EDUCATION NON-PROFIT IN WASHINGTON
How We Did It
A national education nonprofit turned to Cogent to help increase its profile, reach and impact in Washington. With a heavy focus on policy research, the organization’s reports had been landing with a thud—little-noticed and little-read. Cogent developed a strategy to amplify the rollout of new reports, using a combination of op-eds, meetings with key Hill staff, intimate lunches with top policy influencers and public events with the education policy community. The op-ed placements in outlets such as Fox News, The Hill, Stars and Stripes, U.S. News and the Arizona Republic have brought more attention to the organization’s ideas at key moments in education policy debates.
By making personal touches with Hill staff, gathering the right people around the table for private lunches or around the computer screen for virtual conversations, and convening the education policy community for larger rollout events, the Cogent team makes sure that new research reaches the right Washington audience.
