Biography
Katie Beth Cannon is a communications professional specializing in political reporting, media analysis, and strategic storytelling. Her work sits at the intersection of journalism and public affairs, where she brings a nuanced understanding of policy, campaigns, and the evolving media landscape to craft clear, compelling narratives.
Katie Beth currently serves as a PR Associate at Cogent Strategies, where she supports client communications through research, message development, and media strategy. She has a strong foundation in reporting and policy analysis, with experience translating complex issues into accessible and engaging content.
Prior to joining Cogent, Katie Beth was an editorial intern at National Journal, where she covered the business of Washington and contributed to reporting on immigration, energy, and education policy. She authored coverage for the publication’s newsletters, including House campaigns for Hotline, as well as congressional policy for Daily. She also spearheaded Listening Station each week, tracking emerging narratives across the political podcast spectrum. Her work included production of National Journal Radio, assisting with editing and publication of the weekly podcast.
Her experience extends to national media outlets and broadcast news. At FOX News, she worked as a production assistant for Saturday in America with Kayleigh McEnany, pitching stories, preparing on-air content, and coordinating guests. At the Nashville Scene, she reported on local government and education policy, covering Metro Council and school board meetings while writing breaking news and feature stories.
Katie Beth earned her Bachelor of Science in Journalism with honors from Belmont University. She studied abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France, and was one of five recipients of the Archer Presidential Scholarship. When she’s not working, you can usually find her watching a Meg Ryan movie.
