How We Did It

Two leading nonprofit scientific societies sought our expertise on creating a national initiative to raise awareness of and investment in optics and photonics – the science and application of light – in areas critical to U.S. competitiveness, health and safety. We leveraged the talents of our public relations, government relations and digital teams on behalf of this client – launching a coalition of industry and academic stakeholders to showcase the impact of photonics on our everyday lives and helping secure multiple wins over the course of two administrations.

These wins included President Obama announcing more than $200 million in public and private investment to create an Integrated Photonics Institute for Manufacturing Innovation, client involvement in President Obama’s BRAIN Initiative and Cancer Moonshot, and the establishment by Congress and President Trump of a National Quantum Initiative. Today, both the photonics community and policymakers turn to our campaign as a source for information, thought leadership and policy direction.
