As the holidays creep closer, we asked members of Team Cogent to share a few favorite moments of the holiday season, the traditions they cherish and of course, the treats they love to eat! From Zoolights to Santa Pub Crawls to latkes, these are the little things that make our season so special.
Taylor, Shellie, and Randall enjoy their favorite libation at the Quill, and Martin’s Tavern and the Annual D.C. Santa Pub Crawl. For Ben, Will, Andrew, Anthony and Madi, activities such as attending the Zoolights display, listening to Handel’s Messiah, shopping at the holiday markets and watching Old Town Alexandria’s Holiday Boat Parade of Lights are number one on their list of holiday fun. Missi on the other hand appreciates participating in a centuries-old traditional British holiday pantomime, a comedic fairy tale turned musical spectacle. Katie loves going to Union Market with her husband to pick out the perfect Christmas tree for the season, and every year both she and Shellie listen to holiday music at The Willard and NPR’s reading of “A Christmas Carol.”
Although away from D.C., Candice looks forward to visiting family and friends around the D.C. area during this festive time. Likewise, Kaitlin enjoys watching Christmas classics like The Nutcracker. Ben and Andrew head south for warmer weather in Florida and Mexico and Claudia travels north to experience the wintry season in New England.
From Christmas cookies to unique family recipes, Cogent team members enjoy beloved holiday food. Baked desserts are a staple during this season, including Candice’s Yorkshire pudding, Claudia’s pumpkin pie, Madi’s homemade cookies, and Andrew’s manneles – brioches shaped as little men for Saint Nicolas Day. Outside of sweet treats, savory foods such as Shellie’s father’s “Spider Omelet,” which consists of eggs, cheese, and sausage and Ben’s latkes are big hits. And no holiday season is complete without Kimberley’s famous milk punch shared here for those looking for some holiday cheer!
However you celebrate, Team Cogent wishes you and yours a safe and festive holiday season.
